last night i went to my mom's new year party. all her senior colleagues were there so it was mostly old people and they're wives and little kiddies. i was so bored there cuz there was no one to talk to. i was so tempted to talk to the waiters. so anyway, they had a buffet and i took some food, sat down and eat. it was so awkward cuz the table was rectangular and it seated 8 people. so along the long side of the table, my mom, dad and sister faced two ladies and one husband. i sat along the short side. so i was facing the other woman's husband.

it got so awkward. so i finished up my food very quickly and ran away to get dessert. there was some pudding... and a little cake and this thing that was wrapped in a leaf... and i was wondering why they didnt have any spoons. so i had to eat the pudding with a fork. so while waiting for a cup of orange juice to come, i took a few sips of my dad's wine (might be an understatement. my dad claims that i drank a bit more than a few sips) and just ate the small piece of cake whole.

then it was time to watch some performance. and these two dance instructer came out to dance. then out came their students, in bikini-like outfits. i mean, why would you wear something like that with old men and women around?! so they dance dance dance and went away.

just when i had enough of the funny music, the male dance instructor came out and danced with the boss's wife. and then she went back and another one came out and danced tango. it was so weird. cuz the guy's head was like jerking so suddenly and the lady was trying to keep up. it's weird though... married women.. dancing with a dude with a pony tail.

so then they had dancing lessons for those wanting to learn how to cha cha. and i went out into the open to get some fresh air. it was pretty dark and i didnt see the step in front of me. so... i fell. it's not like those little trips. i just fell with a thud. so embarrassing. so i stumbled back to the table only to find that my mom, dad and sister were up there dancing. so ran to hide in the toilet just in case my dad decided to drag me up.

so in the end, went out side to watch fireworks. then found out that a tree was blocking the way. went back inside and sat down and watched old people dancing... and my sister was trying to act pro.

new year... wasn't really the best lah.. but the food was nice.

was feeling whoozy yesterday. all because mom gave me this little pill which was rejected by my immune system. but felt better at night so mom and dad brought me out to buy shoes. i was so miffed because most were either too ugly, too expensive or just didnt fit.

but along the way, saw some pretty necklaces. there was this one with a cat pendant on it. it was sooo pretty. but my mom didnt want to buy it (she said i'd look like a witch, which i think is a bit ridiculous). so in the end, i settled for some itti & otto pumps. and my feet were dying.

woke up today at 12.30. and slugged around the house until my dad dragged me out to have my contact lens made. so got there and they had to take the measurements for the curvature of my eye. and after shining bright lights into my eyes, they told my dad that the kind of lens that was prescribed to me cost $600. you should've seen my dad's face.

(his eyes were practically bulging)

but he said okay anyway. then he went with my mom to look at houses. i have a feeling he's gonna complain to her about the price. bleh.

i woke up this morning and was having a fever. but was so bored just now, i followed my dad up to some end of year "whoppee dee doo" party. there was food, drinks, melted ice cream and a bunch of balloons for the little kids who just want to scare each other by bursting them.

so said "Hi" to a couple of aunties and uncles (i don't know if it's just me of something, but there's no one in this area whom i wish to make conversation with. they're either little kiddies or big adults. so, i don't play with kiddies. and i don't talk to adults. AND THERE'S NO ONE MY AGE.) and sat down in a corner burning my mouth with spicy mee siam. then a couple of neighbours (yes esther, i have neighbours) came up and passed me:

a present, two boxes of chocolate and a coffee mug.

i opened the present and found with photoframe with a fluffy material that covers the sides. and there is a little bear attached to it. it's leg looks dislocated. but a sweet present.

then i got bored and watched my sister and a neighbour's kid play "i'll stab you with a balloon" with an adult. now really you'd expect the adult to win. but he went to fight with two hyper kids. he offered himself as an opponent. the outcome? an adult waving a couple of balloons around while being beaten and stabbed with balloons. the kids are merciless. and yes my sister is feisty. which adds to my frustration at home.

if anyone out there is a whiz in maths, please help me do my homework. thanks.

i went to my mom's friend's son's birthday party yesterday. it was pretty boring cuz i don't talk to them very often. so my mom's friend's son is 16, according to his sister who is 12. and i, being 14, don't really communicate well with either. partially cuz they are surrounded by screaming little boys and girls. so i sat in the living room amongst the chaos of aunties and uncles laughing eating lasagna. but i only took a wee little portion because i kinda ate a little mac and cheese before that.

then blah blah blah 2 hours passed and we all gather round to sing birthday song. and his mom gave my this big hunk (my definition of hunk: #1 hot dude #2 humongous + chunk = hunk) of cake. and there was lots of marzipan on it. it was a very big piece. so a ate it. and my mom was lecturing me on getting diabetes. then i went home.

showered, watched tv, and tried to sleep. but couldn't. the sugar was keeping me awake.

so i walked into the kitchen (did i tell you my sister is fed up with the scary doll and threw it aside?) and sat there eating cereal for dunnoe how long. then went back and tossed and turned in bed and fell asleep. the end.

on saturday, i went to xiwen's church thing. (sorry esther! i had to bake cupcakes in the morning/early afternoon/till 3). then gave her a couple of cupcakes. and stoned at the busstop opposite thomson plaza waiting for 165. and then went to adam road hawker centre and ate each other's cupcakes (she claimed her mom baked it but any how, it was nice). then went into her church. the people she introduced me to were super nice. but i was being tense, says xiwen. she was like "rachel! socialize! start a conversation!" but i was feeling weird. i mean how do you talk to someone you've never met before? and then i was mortified by this giant bunny that was at the doorway.

the production was pretty funny and nice. and when it ended my bladder was on the verge of exploding. then my parents came to fetch me and brought me to vivo for some last minute shopping. then went home.

i'm really feeling the Christmas fever! (and my homework is stuck in a corner collecting dust) so i changed my blogskin since my previous one was too dark and tired. and my nails are dried so i can jump around and scratch the walls until the nail polish comes off so i can paint them again! i'm that bored.

really like this skin. it's so cute! and i didnt know what song to put so i just grabbed one from imeem.

was baking molasses ginger crisps earlier today. at first the batter was preeetty soft. and i didnt know if was going to turn out right. but in the end it turned out quite nice. crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. yummy. got it from martha steward's web site. haha there are millions of good recipes on that website.

this is unbelievable. my parents bought my sister a doll. not just any doll. this horrendous talking doll, which i'm absolutely petrified of by the way, which probably costs around a hundred dollars. why am i so agitated? because every time i want to buy some thing that is actually WORTH it's cost, my parents come up with some lame excuse like " oh you won't concentrate on your work" "oh it's to expensive" "oh i didnt bring a lot of money along" "oh it's useless" or the stupid "money doesn't grow on trees" story.

pfft.

EXACTLY HOW USEFUL IS A FRIGGIN TALKING DOLL?! THAT'S WORTH $100? WHICH "EATS" AND "SHITS"?! (i googled the thing and apparently, it "eats" and gives out "waste" like any other living being. except that it's totally artificial.) I MEAN WHY DON'T YOU JUST GET A REAL BABY IF YOU WANT TO FEED IT AND CLEAN IT'S POOP?! and besides i've got a niece who's mom is very busy. i'm sure she wouldn't mind if my sister babysits her instead of a manually talking doll which i'm absolutely petrified of.

since they can spend money on something so stupid (i believe that within a matter of weeks, the doll will be replace with another toy), i don't think they'll have a problem spending their money on something more useful. like the PSP. i'm sure my dad will be hogging it whenever possible. plus it's totally worth the cash. and keeps me off the net for a few good hours.

they'd better get me something expensive of christmas.

i was really bored so i went mad. i went to play miniclip. you know, the game website? yea. and i found this awesome game (mind you, this game gets boring after losing a few lives). it's so fun. you slip around and knock down the little penguins and kill the big fat ones! so fun! it's kinda like the icy version of happyland (christmas version). but i swear it's tons better.

and there's this other site called nitrome.com and it's the best games website! some of the games in nitrome are the same as the ones in miniclip. i guess they share the games. but most of the games are just really cool. nitrome is the ultimate game website. the games Chick Flick, Roly-poly, Frostbite and off the rails are from nitrome. and they are awesome games. i've been playing this one called Yin and Yang. pretty hard to get used to the game but it's fun once you get the hang of it.

oh my god. Asian idol. horrendous. worst thing since edmund yong's ugly face. when hady came on, my sister went bananas. she was screaming "it's hady! daddy mommy hady! he's on tv! hady is on tv!!! Singapore idol! WAAAAHH!". i nearly had a heart attack when he started singing. they all sing better than him! like the dude mike from Indonesia. that guy can reallysing. and the whole thing was sooooo boring. i found more entertainment watching an Indian show with English sub-titles.

i mean like helllloooooo the show was boring me to tears. anyway, i am going berserk. there's this stupid virus going around and my entire family brought it home from hongkong. if you've read my previous post, i was sick in hongkong. but soon got better after one or two days of watching cartoons. and after that my mom came down with something. then my sister. then my dad. and then me. WHY ME OF ALL PEOPLE! now i'm wheezing and coughing and spluttering everywhere i go.

on a lighter note, i found this interesting band i thought you fellow readers of my blog might be interested in listening to. they are called The Dresden Dolls. yep. and i find their music pretty enticing. really nice to listen to. but not recommended if you're one of those "bop bop bop, bop to the top" kinda people (a.k.a those who absolutely adore the songs in high school musical). i couldn't be bothered to find out what kind of genre their music was but anyhow, their band has two people. who's names i know not. the girl is the vocalist and plays the piano and the dude plays the dudes and occasionally the guitar. oh and they put on exaggerated make-up and look like scary dolls. here's one of their videos:

went to hongkong. and now i'm back. really, there's nothing to talk about. it was pretty blend. plus i fell sick and spent most of my time watching cartoon network while constantly moving from one relative's room to another so that the hotel people could clean the room.

and i found the cutest website. click here. can't decide what you want for Christmas? here a cheat sheet for ya! this is the cutest thing ever. i admit, i didn't find it myself. but i DID find it on someone's blog. so i guess in an indirect way i did find the website! this is the girls cheat sheet. they have one for the guys but i'm not a guy so i won't put up a link. besides you can find it on the website. ALONG WITH THIS CUUUUTE PICTURE OF A BADGER. dunnoe if it'll still be there when you visit the website but it's cute.

and while in hongkong, i watched cartoons non-stop for hours while rolling around on the bed. watched the powerpuff girls, teen titans, xialin showdown, FOSTER'S HOME FOR IMAGINARY FRIENDS, the amazing adrenalini brothers (oh they rock!), code name kids next door(number 3 is mad), ed, edd and eddy(double deee!), and the show with mandy, billy and grim. have no idea what it's called.



they are so funny!


ARGH. i couldn't find a photo with cheese in it. or with edwardo's "cutie patootie" dog. :(

and i think i sat on the upgraded version of SIA cuz the seat were like WHOA and the blankets are super super comfy and there wasn't any static (you know, the checkered blanket they use? your hair tends to be atrracted to it when you open it) and it was so fluffy! and the teevee, was AWESOME! i love the way they classify all the channels (comedy drama etc.) and you can even create a music playlist on that thing. and and plug in your pc in! i watched little britain, simpson's the movie (my aunt was aghast when she saw the intro. yes. when bart was rolling around the entire town stark naked) and the family guy. they had miss swan in the show too!

i think the best part about this trip is going to sasa and making fun of the security guard. he would walk around blabbering what not to touch in cantonese but everyone just ignored him. and i absolutely love the airplane! my mom sat business class and the seats were ginormous. like in economy, the side next to the window has three eats but in business, one seat is the equivalent of three seats! lucky mom.

and esther, i got you a glass necklace for your birthday present.

ya'know, sometimes i wonder why singaporeans do silly things. but as it turns out, they stuff they do manage to give me stitches. okay so i was surfing youtube again and guess what i found.

a MDA video. their senior management were doing a rap. now really. why do you ask some old uncles and aunties (might i add their attire is very unsuitable for rapping) to do a rap? about MDA? with all due respect, they look like idiots! haha but it made me laugh so much. oh my stomach hurts.




oh my. there was this woman in there and every time she appeared i couldn't stop laughing. the silly things we do for attention.

woke up early in the day (12 noon) because i had to go for an eye check up. :( so at 1.30, went down to the clinic.

then when i reached there, i waited for 2 hours before i was finally allowed to see the doctor. and then i had to do this 3-D test and it was pretty blah. my eyesight sucks.

and i had to get a sweater for the hongkong trip so my dad brought me to vivocity and i went into the shop and i saw this GORGEOUS sweater but dad was like "Look at this! this is like my primary school art work! come on lah! give me a white shirt and i draw for you! go buy something else!". the sweater was about 60 dollars. but my dad found this nice sweater (it's really warm) and it cost half as much as that jacket.

then i went to another rack and found this really really nice pretty uber uber cute/vintage shirt. it had this little voodoo person pined to the shirt. and the design was hot. but the shirt was too thin. so i bought this similar red shirt. only this time, it had hearts pinned on the shirt :)

MONDAY
well, woke up at 10a.m. supposed to meet jean and esther at cine at like 12 something. but in the end, i left the house at 12.10. and esther called me while she was waiting for her bus and was telling me about how late she was going to be.

so i reached there with my dad and my sister and i ate a bite of fish from long john silver. but then as i was about to chomp the whole thing down, esther called me and announced her arrival so i had to put down the succulent fish to go and meet her.

she was leaning against the pillar smsing and looking around while i was standing right in front of her with my arms crossed.

ANYWAY, got hungry and went to this pathetic food stall where the food was gross. then jean appeared and brought her two friends along. um.. okay one is tyler and the other is justin. they just appeared and sat behind esther while she was making strangled noises. finally decided to to diss the crappy food and go meet jean's brother.

then went to NUM and waited while esther slowly picked out a pair of slippers. then blah blah blah and i forgot what we did next. stoned around the cinema area before going back downstairs to take neoprints.

then blah blah blah and went to buy tickets for the tattooist ( the guys were like "why don't we just watch enchanted instead?") and after scooting in and out of shops, went right up to the dunnoe what floor to watch the movie. we were so lucky. funny thing is, they didnt check our IC but ah heck.

AND IT WAS THE WORST HORROR SHOW I'VE EVER WATCHED besides house of wax AND IS ONLY CLASSIFIED UNDER HORROR BECAUSE OF GORE. so crappy. and (why me!) the people all around me were making funny noises.

esther was whimpering away, and she attached herself to jean's arm. and there was this intimate scene and esther suddenly turned around and was like "OHOH they're gonna have ***!!!!!". after that, she reattached herself onto jean. and there was this weirdo seated on the other side of me. and EVERY TIME there was a gory scene, the sicko guy would start laughing. and the people sitting behind and in front of me were getting cosy so i don't wanna go into detail.
